Frequently Asked Questions

The Meaning

What is "Unorthodox Child"? Unorthodox Child is the refusal to be tamed by traditional constraints. It is an homage to the raw, unfiltered curiosity of childhood, paired with an unorthodox approach to art technique and medium. Every work is a rebellion against the mundane; an invitation to see the world through a lens that hasn't been clouded by expectations. In short, Unorthodox Child is the quintessence of curiosity and the unbridled bravery to be different.

The Artwork

Is the artwork a unique original or a print? Every Unorthodox Child piece is an original - there are no prints, no multiples, and no digital reproductions. When you bring an Unorthodox Child painting into your space, you are owning the only version of that artwork in existence.

How do I care for my new painting? To ensure your investment lasts a lifetime:

  • Keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent fading over time.
  • Avoid high-humidity areas (like bathrooms) which can warp the canvas or wood.
  • Dust lightly with a clean, dry, soft-bristle brush (like a clean makeup brush). Never use water or cleaning chemicals.

Can I see the painting in person before purchasing? If you are in the New York City area, private viewings can sometimes be arranged at my studio.

Because all my paintings involve tactile textures and layers that photos can’t fully capture, I invite you to reach out. Whether you’re a private collector or a gallery curator, a quick conversation can give you a much deeper sense of the work’s physical presence and the story behind the brushstrokes. Feel free to reach out to discuss any piece that catches your eye.

For those further away, I am happy to send additional high-resolution photos or a quick video of the piece in natural light.

Shipping & Customization

Does the painting come framed? The product description will specify if a piece is framed or not. Most Unorthodox Child paintings are "gallery wrapped" (i.e. painted edges). If you’d like to have a piece framed, I am happy to arrange professional framing for an additional fee.

How long will it take for my painting to arrive?

  • Domestic (US): Typically 7–14 business days.
  • International: Usually 3–4 weeks depending on customs. Every painting is meticulously packed to ensure it arrives in pristine condition. You will receive a tracking number the moment it ships.

Do you accept commissions? No, I’m currently not accepting commissions.
